The Service Cam App provides the possibility to dealers to communicate interactively with customers on their car’s technical status and additional repair needs. Now it can be used also for upload of videos to DISS via Media Hub, which makes warranty documentation process more efficient.
When it comes to creation and upload of videos in the case of warranty repair, it might be associated with many obstructions: recording video with a camera, manual data transfer to a computer (via USB-cable, WhatsApp, Dropbox, …), compress of the videos and then finally upload to DISS. The Service Cam app now offers a new efficient alternative how to upload videos practically in no time. The procedure is simple: after entering the VIN into the Service Cam web application and selecting the relevant DISS complaint, warranty technician scans a generated QR-code and records a video file, which is automatically uploaded to DISS. The last step is to confirm the uploaded video in DISS. In addition to a user-friendly handling the Service Cam app provides more data security of uploaded videos.
All this is possible due to connection to Media Hub, a centralized solution to upload and store large media files in DISS. The first market to benefit from the product integration was France, where it is since November 2021 actively deployed already in more than one hundred dealerships.
“Every opportunity to simplify the warranty process is welcomed by our dealers. Our technicians need to have tools which allow them to focus on their primary mission which is to repair vehicles. And the DISS integration in Service Cam is definitely a way to go”, stated Romain Fournery from Volkswagen Group France, who accompanied the pilot and rollout phase on the importers side.
Further markets have already followed: Switzerland (1/2022) and Germany (2/2022, except AUDI).
The team of Service Cam continues to work on the product development.
“Our aim is to simplify the process as much as possible. Therefore in the next development stage we will add a direct generation of QR-code in DISS, so there will be no need to switch to the web application of Service Cam”, revealed next steps Matthias Gagelmann, product owner of the application.
