The Dealer Management System (DMS) strategy sets a new technology framework for fast and reusable DMS integration of digital functionalities.
Each D!AS-functionality is connected to multiple DMS’s through an “Integration Layer” provided by the Volkswagen Group.
The Dealer Management System provides dealers with a set of powerful tools enabling them to run their business processes effectively. However, by implementing digital processes the need for integrating new digital solutions into the DMS grows rapidly as well. The DMS integration is often a demanding process due to the following challenges:
landscape in markets
~260 providers worldwide
Complex 1:1 Integration
of DMS
Missing overarching end-to-end view on customer data including data guidelines
From initiatives and departments to markets and DMS
The main approach is to set up a new structure in the technical DMS landscape.
Well-structured business objects on OEM as well as on DMS side to enable an easy and fast data exchange are needed.
To achieve this goal we D!AS developed the Retail Wholesale Integration Layer (RW.IL) .
While developing the functionalities, the project owner analyses if a DMS integration is necessary. In case of a positive result the project owner comes together with the Retail Integration Core Team to plan further steps. The Retail Integration Core Team includes all stakeholders for the integration on business- and technical side (see illustration).
The integration strategy is divided into two parts:
This strategy ensures an early preparation of the enabling functions for the DMS integration as well as a fast and standardized connection of the DMS to RW.IL.
The following steps have to be done to achieve an end-to-end integration:
Retail integration is enabled by RW.IL, which serves as a platform for integrating DMS´s and other 3rd party products to Group business services and products in Sales, After Sales and Marketing.
The retail integration is based on the following assumptions:
