Vehicle Lifecycle Module

The Vehicle Lifecycle Module (VLM) provides a reliable and continuous vehicle history enabling a basis for further data usage and interpretation through various after sales systems.
Vehicle Lifecycle Module is a project within Group Vehicle File in order to import all vehicle history data.

ABOUT

The VLM provides a consistent, reliable and continuous vehicle history by recording every single vehicle event. An event is defined as a deliberated activity in order to change or maintain the current condition of a vehicle. For example:

  • Maintenance work
  • Repair work
  • Field measures
  • Software and/or hardware updates
  • Change of vehicle owner
  • Etc.

An application connected to VLM is able to display the whole vehicle lifecycle at a glance.
The development will be step by step and iterative, starting with maintenance and service events.

In contrast to the current backend systems, linking to GVF-VLM is very easy and smooth. An application just needs to follow three steps in order to get ready for using VLM data:

  1. Get business approval for access to the VLM data.
  2. Use a common IDP (VW ID for example).
  3. The GVF Brand Administrator registers the application within GVF and thus enables access to the requested data.

How it Works

VLM within GVF ensures that:

  • All vehicle history data is stored in accordance with data protection rights.
  • Every brand can manage its vehicle history data independently.
  • Access to vehicle history data can be provided on VLM-event basis.
  • The vehicle history data can be provided at once thus a vehicle’s timeline with the various events can be displayed by a frontend application.

Providing access or withdrawing data access
Managing applications
Managing the data, like definition of purposes, retention periods, KSU classes or data clusters, etc.

New functionalities will constantly be developed based on user feedback and needs.

Storage of field measure as VLM-event and provision via GVF-VLM
Storage of DSP data as VLM-event and provision via GVF-VLM
Storage of repair work as VLM-event and provision via GVF-VLM

ROLLOUT
