TechPub Studio (TPS) is an authoring application for repair manuals and the successor of Livas for the infomedia Repair Manuals within CONNECT.
TPS is the underlying editing system to create content for the new content visualization WI/4G (Workshop Information 4th Generation).
For the repair and maintenance of all vehicles, technical workshop information (repair manuals, on-board logs, circuit diagrams, exhaust emission tests, work position catalogue, etc.) are to be made available for all group-wide workshops in the required form and quality and with a continuous process and system support. As part of the TPS / WI 4G project, a new authoring system (Content Management System) based on Teamcenter is introduced at the Volkswagen Group.
New vehicle projects entail a high level of complexity. This makes repair manuals an essential information tool for workshops worldwide. The new content management system TechPub Studio was developed to better describe complexities and dependencies of future vehicle projects.
The modular structure of TPS makes it possible to map the complexity of safety-critical repairs.
The roles and rights models enable specific access control within the group but also for external service providers.
A central management and provision of information is possible due to a consistent and up-to-date data source (CONNECT). This enables the reusage of information across brands.
An improved PR number control will provide an opportunity for greater consistency and thus stability in the cooperation process with the development.
Due to the central data source and the structure of relations, later changes can be made on one central module. The changes are automatically displayed in the repair guides where the module is reused (relative).
